... one of those stormy mild and unsettled days when the roofs, wet from some scattered shower which a little wind or sun soon dried, would release cooing, so to speak, like pigeons, a raindrop and waiting for the wind to turn, would preen their dapple-grey slates, iridescent now in a passing glean of sunlight.
