Publication about The Transat (short name of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique), first title of Scitep

The Compagnie générale transatlantique, shipowner for Caribbean coastal trade,
first title in the Documents series of young publisher Scitep, has just been issued.
Its author, Roger Jaffray was marine officer of the merchant navy, then
administrator for Maritime affairs from 1960 to 1988, including some 15 years in the
French West Indies and Guyana. He has been living in Martinique since 1988, where
from he keeps looking into the changes in local maritime life. For my part, I had the
honor and pleasure to make the watercolour painting of this book's cover.

A new publisher, Scitep, is born.

Scitep is a publisher on contemporary general knowledge (SCIences, TEchniques
and Patrimony), who endeavours to give resources of the French Carribbean
departements the importance they deserve in the national cultural landscape.
“Documents”, first series of reference books, will be followed by another series

Radio interview about deep sea floor

On 2 January 2012 at 2 p.m., the radio program Continent sciences (on France culture) presented by Stéphane Deligeorges will be devoted to deep sea floor. Daniel Desbruyères (book Les trésors des abysses), Jacques Kornprobst and myself (book A la conquête des grands fonds) will answer to his questions.

The oceanographic institute of Monaco publishes a book about deep sea.

R. Calcagno, director of the oceanographic institute of Monaco, wrote a book, Les grands fonds (Editions du Rocher). No watercolors, but synthesis images, nice pictures, and a concise, complete and very instructive text.

La Dives, a coastal river in Normandy... Its voyage begins in the department of Orne and ends between Cabourg and Dives-sur-Mer, where it flows into the Channel. In collaboration with our publisher Cahiers du Temps, Georges Bronner and I are preparing this watercolor booklet entitled Au fil de Dives, with the text by Yvon Carbonne.

Jacques Kornprobst and I are very happy that QUAE editions wish to publish our book "A la conquête des grands fonds. Techniques d'étude de la géologie marine" (cf news of 25 june). This book, illustrated with about 110 water colors, should come out in April 2011.

Georges Bronner's book, "Galets", just came out! This book, published on 27 september 2010, features the many fascinating aspects of pebbles: their geology, their history, and their uses in architecture, art, and everyday life. The book is a companion to an exhibition that was created in the area of the Galaure (Bas-Dauphiné, France). Even though the examples are regional, the information presented in this beautiful book is universal.

I recently decided to open an Internet site. Senior-lecturer of Geosciences and water color painter (as a hobby), I illustrated and occasionaly wrote several books, scientific or not, in french or in english. It became more and more obvious to me that having an Internet site would be very helpful to better communicate with publishers and readers, My decision was taken when I met Arnaud Beldame in november 2009. The founder of Cytadelle easily convinced me that Cytaweb, a tool that this young company just created, was very simple to handle for the site owner. On December 11th, my site is opened ! With CytaWeb, I become the WebMaster of my own Internet site. I can make it evolve as I wish very easily. Cytadelle remains availbale for me for more specific operations. What more should I ask ?
