For over two centuries, volcanoes have been the subject of detailed scientific studies, the results of which are now widely known, thanks to cinema and television. Despite this, volcanic activity still seems quite mysterious and gives rise to many misconceptions. However, the natural mechanisms that cause eruptions and the diversity of volcanic rocks are quite easy to understand, if the amateur pays a little attention! Let's try it together!
This book is aimed at a wide audience who want to learn about the processes that give rise to magmas and volcanoes. Physico-mathematical formulations are avoided, while the scientific rigor of the illustrations is softened by the poetry of watercolor. The often unavoidable specialized vocabulary is gathered in a glossary at the end of the book.
